Author and wildlife photographer, Jan Latta, travelled to Borneo to create her latest book, Ollie the Orangutan. It was a difficult trip. Each day she struggled through the dense jungle, wading through mud and trying to avoid leeches. But the reward was seeing orangutans in the wild ? swinging high in the trees, their red hair catching the sun. Ollie the orangutan tells children where he lives, what he eats and how he lives with his family. Taking photographs and writing about endangered animals in their natural habitat gives children a unique look into the animal?s lives. Ollie the Orangutan is part of the True to Life Book series, educating children about endangered animals.
